We made it! Too tire to post tonight. Pics etc will come.
Tony and I were determined not to make our longest scheduled walk longer than necessary. Our last leg was to be 16 miles, but often the routes were much longer even when we stayed on track. We both agreed to check the map often and to voice any concern about our route right away. We had breakfast in the Solarium at the Old Mill and headed out. It was muggy and warm and seemed to threaten rain.
YAY! So proud of you and Tony.
Love you!
Tasserine,
Thanks. I feel pretty proud of myself too. Not in a puffed up kind of way, but I am amazed at some of the things I was able to do that are so outside my comfort zone. That being said, though it was an awesome experience there are a few parts I would NEVER do again. Tony was a terrific travelling companion and we cajoled each other along the way. I have tons of pics and when I get home, I hope to add to the blog and perhaps post a gallery.
Love you, Mary
Can’t wait to hear the stories behind all these ramblings. Love you guys
Hi Linda,
Hope your hiking experience was good too. I know you would just love the trek we just did. Talk to you soon. Love, Mary
16 1/2 miles, from Grosmont to RBH. Both Mary and I did the arithmatic; we were 1 1/2 miles away from Grosmont. Made the last leg in 7 hours plus, which indicatyes the good hiking, and our desire to gt the hell off Wainwright’s trail. Once in Grosmont, it was a two mile climb up the last of the Cleveland Hills.
The walk along the cliffs overlooking the North Sea was brisk and the path was nothing like that coming out of St Bees. It was protected on the ocean side by fencing, or shrubery or hedges, so we made good time.
The last five minutes we made in a downpour, so for the seond time on the Trek we had todon our rain gear, but just as we reached the village, the rain stopped and the sun came out.
We invited a couple with whom we became friendly to dinner at the Victorian and had a delightful time. One of the fellow travellers, from Australia, came by our table to say hello, and we met the foursome from Holland after the meal, to share stories with. A nice finish to an arduous and highly enjoyable vacation.
You guys are an inspiration. What a wonderful way to end your trip (with sunshine). I love you both.
